Grafaiai Revealed for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
The Pokemon Company has officially announced a brand new Pokemon, Grafaiai, for the Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet games. Known as the Toxic Monkey Pokemon, this Poison/Normal type is found in the Paldea region, and is so far the 13th newly discovered Pokemon to be revealed for the Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet games, the previous being the Normal/Dragon type Cylizar.
What is Grafaiai?
According to the Pokemon’s official description on the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet website:
Grafaiai is a moody Pokémon with a fastidious disposition. It doesn’t form packs, preferring to roam alone, and it is constantly caught up in territorial struggles with other Pokémon. Grafaiai specializes in using its poisonous saliva—which changes color depending on what the Pokémon eats—to attack foes by spitting at them or by slashing at them after coating its claws with the saliva.
Grafaiai is nocturnal and once the sun sets it licks its hands and fingers to cover them in poison and uses them to draw patterns on the trees in its territory. The poisonous saliva it uses to paint paralyzes Bug Pokémon, which are drawn to the saliva’s sweet, fragrant scent.
Grafaiai uses scented paint from its mouth to lure other Pokemon into traps, which it paints on trees to mark its territory. The color of the paint it uses depends on what berries it’s eaten, and it paints with its long, spindly fingers.
There was also another trailer released soon after the documentary-style one that gave a better look at the Pokemon in-game.
It is Poison/Normal type​, 2’4″ feet (0.7 m)​, 60 lbs. (27.2 kg)​, and will have the abilities Unburden and Poison Touch​.
Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet will be released exclusively for Nintendo Switch on November 18, 2022.
