The Pokemon Company International has announced Ash Ketchum’s 25-year journey to become a Pokemon Master is about to come to an end.
The next season of the Pokemon anime will officially begin airing in will be airing in April 2023, and with it, the start of a new journey with two new protagonists.

Upon becoming the World Champion, Ash Ketchum got one step closer to achieving his dream of becoming a Pokemon Master, a journey that never truly ends. The Pokemon Company officially celebrated the achievement after the character’s 25-year journey, which began with the first episode of the anime on April 1, 1997.
Now, the Pokemon Company has confirmed that the next upcoming episodes of Pokemon Ultimate Journeys will finally close the door on Ash as before the new protagonist – Liko and Roy – set out on a new journey across the Paldea region from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
The first special, entitled Pokemon – The Distant Blue Sky, will officially air in Japan on December 26, 2023. From there, an 11-episode series will premiere on Pokemon Ultimate Journeys on January 13, 2023.
It will feature several fan-favorite characters like Misty, Brock, and Gary as they see Ash as a celebration of Ash’s achievement of becoming the world’s top Trainer, and help him realize what it really means to be a Pokemon Master.
